Biography of Pastor Mills
Pastor Norris E. Mills was born in Hopkinsville, KY on August 20, 1970. He attended Hopkinsville High School and graduated in May 1989. After graduating from high school, he went to Blackburn College, Carlinsville, IL where he pursued a degree in Elementary Education and played football. After three years at Blackburn, he transferred to American Baptist Theological Seminary, Nashville, TN and graduated in May 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible Theology with a minor in Social Science.
Pastor Mills is a member of Zion Hope Baptist Church, Herndon, KY. It was there at the age of 10, that he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Nine years later, he accepted his calling to preach the gospel in March, 1990 and was later ordained in June, 1992 under the Pastoral leadership of the late Pastor Henry C. Ligon.
In August 1994, Pastor Mills accepted the call to serve as interim pastor of Virginia Street Baptist Church, Hopkinsville, KY. In March 1995, he was called to St. John Baptist Church, Murray, KY to assume the position as pastor and served for five years. In February 2000, he was called to Eastview Baptist Church, Madisonville, KY and served for six years. In June 2006 he was called to Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Hopkinsville, KY where he presently serves as senior pastor.
Pastor Mills is the son of Mrs. W. L. Baker and the late Rev. W. L. Baker. He is the grandson of the late Ms. Julia A. Wiley and Mr. Charles Beverly. Pastor Mills has two brothers, Edmond T. Mills of Jackson, MS and Damon T. McKee of Indianapolis, IN. He has two sons, Micah D. Mills, Verona, MS and Jaron A. Mills.
